our house, in the middle of our street

so i’m trying to decide if i want to buy a house or continue to rent apartments that i don’t like. i’ve been searching through the sibcy cline for a couple of hours (on a recomendation by artie). so, now my question is this…

where are the houses that i can afford to buy?

seriously. this is insane. i’m trying to find something nearby to work, so i select the area i want. ok, there are some options. next i set my price limit to $150k. everything goes away but 3 houses (i may be exaggerating at bit, but not much). what the crap. that’s $150k, that’s one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. i feel like i’m taking crazy pills. how am i going to be able to afford a house for $150k, let alone more than that? this makes my brain hurt.

maybe i’ll be living in this crappy apartment forever.

saddest thing is that house prices are the cheapest they’ve been in years. i’m there with you man… besides the initial price point and the mortgage thing you have to deal with repairs and maintenance and taxes… i don’t get it!

B, keep looking. Our old place was in Dillionvale, a “suburb” of Blue Ash. Blue Ash was expensive, but Dillionvale was cheap. I’m sure there’s a pocket like that around Mason. Also, since Mason’s got great schools (which you don’t care about right now), try looking someplace nearby that ain’t so good. Milford perhaps (sorry Causey).

J, it’s the fact that you’ll get at least 100% of your money back when you sell the place. Appartment living is like throwing money away. Although not having to mow my lawn, pay for new hot water heaters and replace front doors does sound pretty nice.
