yeah? well, i’m catholic. i don’t want to piss mel gibson off.
today, i started the “couch to 5k” running program. i also found this great podcast to go along with it. it’s called podcasts for running. basically, there are nine “episodes” and each one corresponds to a week in the training plan for the c25k program. for example, week 1 consists of starting with 5 minutes of warm up walking, then 8 sets of 60 seconds of running followed by 90 seconds of walking, and finally 5 minutes of walking for cooldown. in the podcast, a voice cue is given for each interval, which is nice because i don’t have to keep track of the time myself. the best part is the whole thing is put to music, so i don’t get bored while i’m doing it.
it’s definitely harder than my normal walking workout, but i think it’s worth it. this evening, i saw a 5 minute improvement from my normal walking pace, and a 2 minute improvement from my best time (at the big k 5k).
