warped tour ruled. it was really hot, but it wasn’t unbearable. i survived with only a mild sunburn on my face. justin posted a good synopsis of the overall show. he saw most of the bands that i did, with the exception of the toasters and tiger army, both of which were great. bad religion was amazing… way better than i expected. my only regret was not staying around to see big d and the kids table, but it would have meant almost 4 more hours in the sun to see them play for 30 minutes. plus, i was exhausted. instead, i went to watch some kickball at lunken playfield, and hung at mulligan’s in hyde park. overall, it was a great concert, and a great day.

today, i started the “couch to 5k” running program. i also found this great podcast to go along with it. it’s called podcasts for running. basically, there are nine “episodes” and each one corresponds to a week in the training plan for the c25k program. for example, week 1 consists of starting with 5 minutes of warm up walking, then 8 sets of 60 seconds of running followed by 90 seconds of walking, and finally 5 minutes of walking for cooldown. in the podcast, a voice cue is given for each interval, which is nice because i don’t have to keep track of the time myself. the best part is the whole thing is put to music, so i don’t get bored while i’m doing it.

it’s definitely harder than my normal walking workout, but i think it’s worth it. this evening, i saw a 5 minute improvement from my normal walking pace, and a 2 minute improvement from my best time (at the big k 5k).

on the heels of my first 5k run/walk, i’ve decided to do another (two more, actually). the first is the college hill rhythm race 5k on saturday, august 18th @ 7:00pm. the other, on following saturday, the 25th, is the
forest park charge @ 8:30am. also, i’ve been thinking about doing the run like hell race as well, but it’s still a few months away.

anybody interested in doing any of these? we could run/walk together, or at least start together and you wait for me at the finish line:)

this amazing picture was taken during lunch yesterday at the jimmy john’s on mason-montgomery rd. how does that happen? i mean seriously… those items probably make up at least 15% of their sales.

overall, this week hasn’t been too busy… here’s a quick rundown:

  • tony and i are now rsa envision cse certified.
  • almost died during a lightning storm while at the riverbend for the cincinnati bell all-hands meeting.
  • along with ian, started demo-ing his (and megan’s) basement bathroom for a remodel.
  • played both kickball and sand volleyball.
  • still looking for a place to live… not looking forward to moving.

on another note: less than 2 weeks until the warped tour show… i’m excited. it’s gonna be good (i hope).
